The Loch Ness Monster is a cryptid alleged to inhabit Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. Popular interest and belief in the animal has fluctuated since it was brought to the world's attention in 1933. Evidence of its existence is largely anecdotal, with minimal and much disputed photographic material and sonar readings. The scientific community regards the Loch Ness Monster as a modern-day myth, and explains sightings as a mix of hoaxes and wishful thinking. Despite this, it remains one of the most famous examples of cryptozoology. The legendary monster has been affectionately referred to by the diminutive Nessie (Scottish Gaelic: Niseag) since the 1950s. Courtesy of Wikipedia. What's your view? Is the Monster real, or simply a myth? Have sightings really occured, or have they merely been hoaxes?

I have always loved the Nessie myth and like to hope that she exists. There have been a few known Nessie hoaxes but I chose to believe that the photo you've shown is genuine. I realise that nobody has been able to catch her or find any proof of her but who knows maybe Nessie is shy...or just really loves a good game of hide and seek?

Apparently the picture I've posted was discovered to be a hoax, and I think the person who photographed it admitted this themself.

Apparently the picture I've posted was discovered to be a hoax, and I think the person who photographed it admitted this themself. Indeed, indeed. Too bad, as it was some of the most compelling proof for Nessie's existence in a lot of people's minds. I'm a huge Nessie fan/believer. Done quite a bit of research on the subject (high school papers, anyone?) and have always been quite taken by the critter. There are some truly interesting stories out there about people's encounters with Nessie.
